Test objectives
Vent Sizing Viscous Effects Flow Regime Thermal Stability Data (indicate temperature range)
Please note any characteristic personnel safety hazards to be aware of while handling reagents or products. Please also provide material safety data sheets for each reagent (not necessary for common reagents).
List of Reagents for Test Recipe (include weight or volume percent)
Specify important steps for mixing reagents such as order of addition, temperature requirements, etc.
Provide known physical properties of reagents (not necessary for common reagents such as acetone, methyl alcohol, etc.)
Density Specify Normal State at Room Temp (solid, liquid or gas) Viscosity Information (Low or High is often adequate) Vapor pressure-temperature data (Please separate point pairs with semicolon)
Reactor Vessel Characteristics
Vessel Orientation (Horizontal or Vertical) Vessel Volume Vessel Charge Volume Vessel Charge Mass Vessel Diameter Vessel Height / Length Vessel Head Type (Ellipsoidal, Flanged and Dished, etc.) Vessel Design Pressure Intended Relief Pressure (indicate if test objective is to determine appropriate relief pressure) Existing Relief Device Type, if any (include set pressure) Normal Fill Inventory by Volume or Weight
Test should be performed as:
Normal Process Recipe Design Basis Upset Condition Other
What is the design basis upset condition?
Fire Exposure (is insulation fire rated?) Loss of Heating, Cooling or Mixing Other
What is the Generic Type of Reaction Expected?
Polymerization Synthesis Decomposition Nitration Liquid Solution Liquid Emulsion Solid-Liquid Gas-Liquid Other
Please provide any additional information related to the process which would be helpful in assuring that testing is performed effectively and safely. Useful information might include molecular structure, stoichiometry, prior test data, and characteristics of reaction products including known scrubbing materials which would facilitate safe venting of test cell contents. Also note material incompatibilities for selection of test cell materials (standard test cells are 304 stainless, but 316 stainless, hastelloy C, titanium or glass lined can be used as alternatives).
Will chemical reagents be supplied by customer or procured by FAI?
Customer Supplied Procured by FAI (Cost of reagents will be added to service fee).
